From the Armchair: It's All About Intent

I don’t think this would have been a great time to introduce another bill that seeks to restrict or categorize activities. We are already restricted to where we go and what we can do because of the pandemic.

At the core of the issue is trust. There is very little incentive to trust the government with a bill that has provisions that can be misinterpreted. Even if the intentions are well meaning, it can be abused by those who implement them.

I don’t like how he dismissed the proliferation of fake accounts on Facebook by saying that it could also be done by the people opposing the bill. I believe that these fake accounts open an avenue for abuse accessible to both sides.

We cannot be dismissive with the details, especially if it’s going to encroach on the people’s rights.
